Our Honda EU3000iS Extended Run Time Fuel Kit was specifically developed to work correctly with the Honda EU3000iS. It is not a through the cap, one size fits all, or a gravity feed system. Our kits use an internal fuel pump included in the kit to transfer fuel so the remote tank does not need to be higher than the generator to work correctly. Simply place the remote tank on the ground next to the generator then connect the fuel hose and you are all set. It is very important that you use only the components supplied in the kit, do not mix and match with locally improvised items due to the fact that they may not be 100% compatible and therefore inhibit performance of the kit. We do our best to select the highest quality components for our kits, for example we tested several different brands of prime ball hose before we chose the Yamaha hose due to the fact that it outlast the other brands and it stays more flexible in cold temperatures.

Convenience
You will never have to shut down your generator to refuel again. Our fuel transfer system is fully automatic and uses a vacuum type fuel pump so it can be used safely while unattended.  Our Honda EU3000iS Extended Run Time Fuel Kit is designed to alternate from one tank to the next while the generator is still running. Our kit will allow you to alternate between as many tanks of any size you choose. Based on manufacturer fuel consumption claims with a 6 gallon fuel tank you can run a Honda EU3000iS up to 13 hours at full load or 26 hours at half load before alternating to the next fuel tank.

Safety
You will never have to risk personal injury again pouring gasoline into a hot generator. With our AUXILIARY REMOTE FUEL TANK SYSTEM you can just switch to a remote fuel supply more safely at a distance of up to 10 feet away from this generator.

Compatibility
This product has been validated for use on gasoline versions of this generator only. It is not recommended for use on propane or dual fuel versions of this generator.

We Recommend The fuel tank itself is not included in this kit due to the fact that it seems no two customers need the exact same size fuel tank. Below is a link that may help you find the proper sized fuel tank for your needs. Due to quality control issues with many of the different brands of fuel tanks, I recommend using the Flo N’ Go fuel caddy as a fuel tank. Please note, the fuel caddy will have to be standing upright when you are running the generator, but it can be laid flat for transporting or storage. If you wish to use this fuel caddy as a remote fuel tank you will need to get hose clamps and a 1/2 hose barb to 1/4 FIP adaptor as shown in the fuel caddy video. For more info on the quality control issues with the different brands of tanks please watch the fine tuning and trouble shooting video.

The kit works very well in above freezing temperatures. Below freezing gave me nothing but headaches and problems. Attempted many things with company support but eventually just had to end up removing it from my Honda 3000. Would not recommend if you run in below freezing temps.

I see you are in Alaska so I am not sure how cold it is getting there, however in really cold temps you must not allow ice to form in the breather hose. Honda is aware of the issue with ice forming in the breather hose on the EU3000iS and has issued a technical service bulletin on the subject. There are two ways to remove Ice that forms in the breather hose. The first method is to install the genuine Honda breather hose heater kit available at Honda dealers, part number 06390-ZS9-T20. The second method is less expensive, you could try using a rough service light bulb as a heater and hook it up the same way as the Honda kit. In either case you would then start the generator and run it off the stock fuel tank till the ice in the breather hose has melted and then switch it over to the remote tank and continue running. Keep in mind that the fuel pump is powered by crank case pressure and vacuum by way of the breather hose, so when the hose is plugged with ice the fuel transfer pump can not operate.

Put this kit into two EU3000is generators (one mine, one a friends) to power a large art installation in the desert for 2 weeks. The generators both used the installed kits to pull from a 12 gallon tank with dual outputs. They ran without issue for 12 hours each evening/night/morning for 15 days in the worst weather imaginable (Desert heat, lots of wind which stirred up loads of dust, just terrible conditions). Proved to work great so I even ordered myself another kit to add to my personal second EU3000is.

My only comment for potential buyers is be aware that while normally the fuel shutoff valve shuts the fuel off, with this kit installed it does not. The fuel shutoff valve becomes the switch to choose which tank you pull fuel from. If the shutoff valve is open it will pull from the internal tank. If you turn the switch to closed it will instead pull from your external tank. This is all fine, BUT:
The issue is and if you have gas in the internal tank and turn the fuel shutoff value to the closed position (which would pull from your external tank) the gas in the main tank will drain out of the internal tank through the hoses into the external tank if the external tank is positioned below the generator. We filled both the internal and external tank prior to firing things up and had the valve set to “off” while in transit to the location. The fuel drained from the main tank overflowing the external tank, causing quite the mess. This only happens when you have an external tank hooked up though. If you do not have an external tank connected the generator (and fuel shut off valve) operates normally.

Thank you for the review. If your stock tank is draining into the remote tank when the fuel valve is in the off position then your fuel valve has failed. This is a failure of the Honda Fuel valve, not the Pinellas Power Products Kit. When the fuel valve is off nothing should flow through that valve. You need to go to your local Honda dealer and get a replacement fuel selector valve quickly.

  5. Kevin

OK, after testing my own setup (I originally was going off my friends information) the fuel does NOT drain from the built in tank to an external tank when the fuel valve is set to the off position. It will drain from the internal tank into an external tank if the fuel valve is in the on position though. Is this normal operation? I don’t see anything on your site that mentions if this is supposed to happen.
    Thanks.
    -Kevin

  6. Paul Wolaver

Yes, with the fuel valve open fuel will flow, with the fuel valve closed the fuel will not flow. If you look, you will see that I have it on the operating instruction sticker and on the instruction videos to put the valve in the closed position when using the remote tank. Show this information to your friend, so he is aware of the proper operation of my kits.

  7. Michael

Your product looks great, however for almost $400 USD I can’t justify buying it for myself in Canada. That is the only reason and I understand that is the cost of the parts and you have to make some money off it too. I do agree with your explanation of why not to use the through the cap extensions. Great design. I’d recommend it to others if they are willing to pay the cost to get it to Canada.

  8. Paul Wolaver

Thank you for the feedback. Just to be clear, the price is $287 USD, not $400 USD. Shipping to Canada is $29.73 USD if you choose FedEx ground.
